AMG goes green(maybe not!)
In a press conference organized prior to Geneva Motor Show, Volker Mornhinweg, the CEO from Mercedes-AMG announced that by year 2012 all AMG models will be equipped with gasoline direct-injection engines fitted with the START/STOP function. Mornhinweg also stated that it could be possible(still, there are no certain plans made) to use hybrid power plants instead of the present, more hardcore V8 & V12 units, naturally aspirated or turbcharged. The high torque generated by electric motors in the hybrid technology was the one that appealed to AMG engineers. Well, if they were to ask me about adding green features to AMG models, I would definitely say 'NO'. Hybrid units or being eco-friendly are good ideas, but putting them along with the philosophy of a pure sports car is rather ridiculous. Come on, AMG, don't screw things up!However, I am not against using gasoline direct-injection engines!
