Stuttgart, Germany, Jul 01 , 2008 - Within the context of the Arab-European Internship Exchange Program, Dr. Ruediger Grube, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, hosted 24 students from the Arab economic area at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgarton Monday, July 7. The Arab-European Internship Exchange Program is an initiative organized by Young Arab Leaders (YAL) and Daimler. YAL was founded in 2004 with the goal of creating an environment conducive to the further development of future executives from the Arab region. The internship program is an important component of our cooperation with YAL, promoting the dialogue between Arab students and experienced Daimler executives, explained Dr. Ruediger Grube. The three-month internships offer insights into the areas of sales/marketing, finance/controlling, information/technology, purchasing/logistics and after sales.
The participants in the training program - eleven female and thirteen male students - are from Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Syria. They are between 18 and 22 years old and students of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, political science, informatics, economics and business administration. The participating students were selected by Daimler and YAL from a large number of applicants. Particular emphasis was placed on motivation, intercultural competence and team skills.
The cooperation between YAL and Daimler began in 2005 when the first Arab-European Exchange Forum (AEEF) was held in Stuttgart. This annual forum serves as an exchange of opinions and experience between top managers from the Arab region and from companies with international operations. In addition to the student programs, YAL and Daimler provide scholarships for students from the Arab region, as well as the Daimler Top Talent Camp, a study and experience program with seminars and virtual learning platforms.
