Feature about VW/Porsche club Arabia Slugs from 90's Spinneri magazine. Club's joint garage originated in district of Helsinki called Arabia, hence the name Arabia Slugs.

Flashback: VW Cup Racers

Ovals Only Outing

Now that I felt sun actually warming in couple of occasions in last week I guess it proper time to publish some Oval outing photos from last Spring :-) Cannot remember how/why it was but all of the Oval's, except Pasi's Kustom which was stored elsewhere, were out of our garage at the same time and parked in the front.

2007 Summer Tour

'07 Summer Tour participants. One of my golden rules has always been not to talk bullshit beforehand, but I haven't been this excited for a long time :-) Cannot believe that it has already been 8 years from my last Bad Camberg trip with Kai, Heebah, Samu and Pasi. That was really eventful week; Bug Run in first weekend and the purchase of my '60 Kab, then hanging the week in Belgium in Kari's old place, visiting BBT for the first time and Bad Camberg the following weekend.

This year will be the killer, first Bad Camberg and then European Bug In. Our four car lot consists of Sebastian's Split, Heeba's Type III KG and couple of Ovals. The scene in Europe hasn't shrinked over the years and there are huge expectations loaded towards EBI. Bad Camberg cannot be anything less than awesome and knowing some of the guys behind EBI and their previous work with the Ninove event and DDD, I know I won't be driving home disappointed to the weekend..

Flashback: Matti's Looker

Matti �yr�v�inen finished building this Looker in early 90's. Matti's Looker was way ahead of everyone else in built quality back then and after this car he has raised the level of detail/quality after each project. This Zwitter like his other projects had many self-made billet aluminium parts.

Flashback: Hacksaw Cabriolet

Pete photographed this Norwegian selfmade Custom Cabriolet in Hot Rod and Rock Show in Tampere early 90's. Even though it is now stylishly outdated, not many selfmade Cabriolets end up built in same standard than this one was.

Picture from 8/1971 issue of Gute Fahrt magazine. I am not into late models but I like the idea of someone fitting Earlies to new Bay Window in 1971. Before anyone mounted Fuchs to Cal Looker?

Flashback: 90's Looker

Mid 90's Cal Looker photographed at Kuplapaja's premises when Jussi's business was located in Tattarinsuo, Helsinki. That mid 60's Bug shows typical choice of colour from that period including slight Pro Street touch with the shockwave painted on the side. Photo is from late 90's and the wheels are most likely the very same set of MWS 5-spokes that I imported from UK in 1997.

On the road again..

..well, sort of. Big thanks to Jussi for helping once again. We waited for colder weather to move the 'Vert so that the roads wouldn't be salted, the yellow salt truck on the highway ramp wasn't exactly welcomed sight.

Speedster Replicas

My buddy Ecce noticed this bunch of Speedster replicas on his trip to Redmond, Washington. Speedster replicas, car replicas and kit cars, are something I've never understod. These replicas look like professionally built, yet it is obvious even from this distance that they're not real deal and they can cost around the same as steelbodied 356 coupes do.



Having said that replicas can be quite cool when built to the max without the intention to look like fake Porsche. Like the Swedish one above from last year's Bug Run which is sort of an exception that confirms the rule :-)
